Campaign gains steam to get Hollywood filmmaker to walk the walk. So, will he go ‘hug it out’ with ISIS?

A Hollywood filmmaker who declared that love and not bombs was the way to fight ISIS may now get a chance to “hug it out” and prove his point.

Josh Fox is being challenged on his words following his argument that “only love stops hate, and bombings only create more ISIS.” The “Gasland” director tweeted his remarks after the U.S. dropped the “mother of all bombs” on an ISIS tunnel complex in Afghanistan last week.

Filmmakers Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney stepped up to help Fox make good on his words. The “FrackNation” directors have launched a crowd-funding campaign to raise money to send Fox to Afghanistan to “hug ISIS.”

“As journalists, our job is to call out those who demand others to do things they wouldn’t do themselves,” McAleer wrote on the donation page which met and exceeded its $2,500 goal in just one day.

“The fundraiser will pay for Fox’s airfare to Afghanistan, 2 nights in a hotel and a dozen roses so Fox can show ISIS how much he really loves them,” McAleer continued.

And if Fox turns down the opportunity?

“If Fox refuses to go and turns out to be the hypocritical coward we believe him to be, then we’ll donate all the funds raised to the Wounded Warrior Project,” the page explained.

“Fox has shown no indication of principles or spine in the past. He has literally run away from journalists asking tough questions, stormed out of interviews that didn’t pat him on the back, and, most notably, lied about a connection between breast cancer and fracking,” McAleer wrote.

“It’s time for Josh Fox to put his hugging arms where his mouth is,” he concluded.

The page continues to rack up the donations, currently over $2,800, as conservatives took to Twitter to help Fox spread the love.
