A British member of parliament is being hailed as a hero after trying to save a police officer who was fatally wounded in the London terror attack.
Foreign Office minister Tobias Ellwood rushed to officer Keith Palmer despite orders that he and fellow members of Parliament get to safety, BBC News reported.

Ellwood, a Conservative MP and British military veteran who lost his brother in the Bali terrorist bombing in 2002, performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation on the 48 year-old officer.

Palmer was allegedly stabbed by an unidentified assailant who reportedly drove a car into a crowd of pedestrians on Westminster Bridge in London. The attacker then crashed the car by the Houses of Parliament and stabbed the officer with a knife before being shot dead by another officer.

Conservative MP Adam Afriyie told the BBC that he saw his friend, Ellwood, rush to help the fallen officer, ignoring police orders. Photos showed Ellwood with blood on his face, surrounded by paramedics and police officers as he knelt near Palmer performing CPR.
His fellow lawmakers praised Ellwood for his actions.

“Today, Tobias gave MPs a good name,”  Liberal Democrat leader Tim Farron told the BBC. “He was utterly heroic, pure and simple. He went above and beyond and did all he could to save a police officer.”
