“I’ll be back,” was one of his trademark movie lines, and if rumors are true, he may soon be keeping a closer eye on the president.
Veteran actor, bodybuilder and former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is considering a run for the U.S. Senate, possibly as third-party candidate, according to several Republican political insiders in the Golden State.

Schwarzenegger’s running feud with President Donald Trump after he took over the reins of “Celebrity Apprentice” “would give Arnold the stage to jam Trump for the next 16 months,” a GOP insider told Politico on condition of anonymity.
Trump slammed the former governator‘s “Apprentice” ratings, a show the president launched. The “governor” shot back that he hoped Trump would “work for ALL of the American people as aggressively as you worked for your ratings.”
The president also injected a bit of humor at the 2017 National Prayer Breakfast when he asked the participants to pray for higher ratings for the show.
Schwarzenegger spokesman Daniel Ketchel confirmed to Politico that he’s not ruling the possibility out.
“Right now Gov. Schwarzenegger’s focus is on using his platform to bring some sensibility and coherency to Washington by fighting for redistricting reform, like we did in California,” Ketchell said. “We are keeping all of our options open as far as how we can accomplish that.”
And the timing for such a move would be ideal, given that Sen. Dianne Feinstein will be 85-years-old in 2018 when she’s up for re-election.
In addition to Schwarzenegger and Trump’s bickering about “Celebrity Apprentice,” the two have been at odds on policy issues — especially immigration, climate change and political reform.
As a candidate, “he would become an instant player,” not only on political reform but also on his signature issue of “cap and trade and climate change,” Sonoma State University political analyst David McCuan told Politico. “[Schwarzenegger is] someone who could play a huge role if Republicans wanted any hope of having relevance in California.”
Conservatives social media weren’t totally enamored with the idea, given Schwarzenegger’s political history and attachment to liberal policies.

Veteran GOP political consultant Luis Alvarado sees Schwarzenegger as “almost like a silver bullet” to Trump.
“Donald Trump has had the ability to manipulate all the news and cameras to him, and Arnold Schwarzenegger would be like kryptonite, or an anti-matter device, that would somehow restore balance in this universe of madness.”
