Congress will investigate President Trump’s claims that former President Obama abused his power by wiretapping Trump Tower during the election.
That’s what Republican Congressman Devin Nunes vowed after the White House demanded that lawmakers investigate Trump’s bombshell revelations.
“[We] will make inquiries into whether the government was conducting surveillance activities on any political party’s campaign officials or surrogates,” Nunes said in a statement Sunday.
Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said his committee will also look into the matter.
“We’ve already begun an inquiry on the intelligence committee into Russia’s efforts to undermine confidence in our political system,” Cotton told Fox News. “That inquiry is going to be thorough, and we’re going to follow the facts wherever they lead us. And I’m sure that this matter will be a part of that inquiry.”
Cotton said he’s surprised by President Trump’s wiretapping accusations and so far, he hasn’t seen any evidence that Obama had spied on Trump.
“It doesn’t mean that none of these things have happened; it just means I haven’t seen them yet,” Cotton said. “I would not want to speculate about media reports based on anonymous sources. I would prefer to deal with facts.”
By the same token, Tom Cotton has seen NO evidence of collusion between Trump and the Russians.
Cotton said the media has once again run amok with their unsubstantiated, cloak-and-dagger rumors.

“I’ve seen no evidence,” Cotton said. “And again, media reports have gotten pretty far over their skis on this.”
