You think Obama never spied on US citizens? Fox News Channel’s James Rosen recalls his nightmare

News outlets should know that the Obama administration often spied on American citizens — they were some of the targets of its surveillance.

Fox News Chief Washington correspondent James Rosen was one of them, and the Obama administration even labeled him a “criminal co-conspirator and a flight risk” under the Espionage Act in 2013 application for a warrant to examine his emails.

Rosen explained on “Fox & Friends” that then-Attorney General Eric Holder was able to secure his warrant, which also included the phone records of approximately 20 phones he used at the time.

“One of those 20 phone lines was [area code] 718 — and that referred to my parents’ house on Staten Island at that time,” he said.

Rosen explained that the Obama administration was attempting to learn his source of his reports on the North Korean nuclear weapons program.

He didn’t learn that the Obama administration had been spying on him until four years later from a Washington Post report.

“Fox & Friends” guest co-host Ed Henry observed that in his response to the alleged Trump Tower wiretapping during the closing days of the 2016 presidential election, an Obama spokesman claimed that “President Obama never ordered surveillance of any American citizen.”

Henry noted the careful wording of the response. “He didn’t personally order it, but clearly in your case someone in his administration ordered surveillance of you — a U.S. citizen.”

Rosen agreed, and remarked that it was unprecedented.

“Not even Neil Sheehan, who is the New York Times reporter back in 1971 who published the Pentagon Papers, 7,000 classified documents, was designated by the Nixon administration as a criminal co-conspirator in a violation of the Espionage Act,” Rosen noted. “So that was an honor I had all unto myself.”

He added that so far “there’s a lot we don’t know” about the alleged Trump wiretapping claim.

Co-host Pete Hegseth asked if Trump’s claims could be a reality.

“It’s entirely plausible,” Rosen said. “This is the nature of the age in which we live, the age of Eric Snowden,” adding, however, that it hasn’t yet been proven.

Sen. Tom Cotton told Fox News that Congress is already investigating the wiretapping charges made by Trump.
