Russian spokeswoman’s testy run in with CNN: ‘Oh my God, stop…stop spreading lies and false news!’

Yesterday CNN was “the most trusted name in news;” today it’s famous for fake news — and even the Russians know it.

Two Trump administration cabinet members — Attorney General Jeff Sessions, and former National Security Advisor Michael Flynn — found themselves the object of criticism after their contacts with a senior Russian diplomat were published.

His name, Russian Ambassador to the U.S. Sergey Kislyak, and mainstream media attention soon focused on him.

After The New York Times asked in a headline, “Who is this mysterious Russian ambassador who caused so much trouble for 2 top officials in the Trump White House?” CNN decided to find out.

The cable news giant sent correspondent Matthew Chance out to ask Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova — and he promptly stepped into a huge Russian bear trap that both he and his network wished he had avoided.

“Mr. Kislyak is a well known..uh..I mean world class diplomat who was a deputy minister of foreign affairs in Russia who was communicating with his American…for decades in different fields and CNN accused him of being Russian spy..recruiting?” she lashed out to the hapless reporter.

When Chance attempted to ask a follow-up question, Zakharova gave CNN the most unkindest cut of all — the fake news label.

“Oh my God, stop…stop spreading lies and false news! This is good advice for CNN.”

Again Chance attempted to ask another question, but she wasn’t having it.

“Please stop spreading lies and false news!” she repeated.

So who else is Ambassador Kislyak? This person had the answer.

And that settles that. And CNN now knows how it feels to be caught in Russian bear traps.
