‘The Biggest Loser’ trainer recovering from heart attack that nearly killed him; Americans are jolted

Personal trainer and host of “The Biggest Loser” Bob Harper is reportedly recovering after a heart attack that nearly killed him.

The 51-year-old fitness guru collapsed two weeks ago while working out in a New York City gym, according to TMZ. Fortunately for Harper, a doctor who was also at the gym was able to administer CPR to keep him alive until paramedics arrived.

Harper woke up two days later in the hospital, TMZ reported.

He posted a message of thanks to all who wished him well, stating that he was “on the mend.”

Harper blamed genetics, noting that his mother had died of a heart attack.

A Los Angeles resident, he has had to stay in New York City after his eight days in the hospital as he was not yet cleared to fly by his doctors, according to TMZ.

Twitter users sent well-wishes for the fitness trainer who has starred on 17 seasons of NBC’s “The Biggest Loser” show since 2004. He is also the author of three best-selling books on fitness.
