The Quran was quoted at the Oscars as Hollywood rejoiced in a President Trump hate fest!

The night had it all, social protest by foreign directors, Quran quotes,  and a standing ovation for Meryl Streep.

During Jimmy Kimmel’s opening monologue, Kimmel asked Meryl Streep to take a bow to celebrate her 20th Oscar nomination and thanking Trump for making the Oscars seem less racist in comparison.

At the politically charged event, marked by reactions to President Trump’s immigration policies, celebrities stood in line to take jabs at Trump during a night that saw the podium turn into a platform for social protest and actors doing their best “Evita” impression possible.

Film director, Asghar Farhadi, refused to attend the ceremony as a protest against Trump and had the following statement read on the night “Dividing the world into the US and our enemies categories creates fear-a deceitful justification for war. ” This led to standing ovations among the Hollywood celebrities. It would seem that Hollywood finds Trump’s words more destructive than Obama’s “humanitarian” bombs, as no such condemnation was uttered when the Obama administration carried out a massive bombing campaign against seven different countries.

However, the night reached its climax when the sacred text of Islam was quoted during an acceptance speech for the movie “White Helmets.” A pretentious-sounding British man appointed to speak on behalf of the White Helmets, uttered the words of the Quran. This led to yet another standing ovation and tears of joy among the well-meaning celebrities.

So who are the White Helmets?

Granted, this alleged neutral organization has done a tremendous job at saving civilians by the thousands in Syria. However, calling them neutral is a far stretch. Several reports have exposed the organizations ties to extremist groups and  its members participating in war crimes.

The organization’s founder, Raed Saleh, was even barred from entering the US  when he arrived at Dulles International Airport and had his visa cancelled due to security concerns by the then Obama administrations State Department.

Again, no Hollywood protest here. Fast-forward to the Oscars and Hollywood goes into overdrive when Syrian cinematographer, Khaled Khatib (who worked on White Helmets) was unable to attend the Oscars after being barred from entering the United States.

The Oscar celebration highlights the double standard and selective outrage of the social warriors in Hollywood.

Kudos to you tinsel town!
