Have New Hampshire lawmakers been listening to rocker Ted Nugent?
“The Second Amendment of our Bill of Rights is my concealed weapons Permit, period,” the Motor City madman once famously remarked.
Apparently following that advice, New Hampshire Gov. Chris Sununu just signed into law a bill requiring no permit to carry a concealed loaded weapon.

Senate Bill 12 was the first measure the newly-elected Sununu signed into law since moving into the governor’s mansion.
It essentially provides that so long as a person may legally possess a handgun, he is allowed to carry it concealed without the necessity of obtaining any additional licenses.
“SB12 ensures New Hampshire citizens are guaranteed the fundamental right to carry a firearm in defense of themselves and their families, as prescribed by our state constitution,” Sununu said of the new law, according to the New Hampshire Union-Leaser.
“This is about safety. This is about making sure that the laws on our books are keeping people safe while remaining true to the Live Free or Die spirit that makes New Hampshire the great state that it is.”
Although the bill squeaked through the Senate along party lines, 13-10, it enjoyed wide bipartisan support in the House, 200-97.

Gun rights advocates have been frustrated in their efforts to change New Hampshire law throughout the gubernatorial terms of Democrats John Lynch and Maggie Hassan. During the two-year term of Republican Gov. Craig Benson, from 2003-2005, they succeeded with three bills
Michelle Levell, chair of the Women’s Defense League of N.H., couldn’t be on hand for Wednesday’s bill signing, but members of the organization held up a picture of the gun-rights activist who worked for years on the legislation. –
“She’s worked so hard for this moment, we wanted her to be here today,” said Susan Olsen, director of the organization’s legislation.
Another group that campaigned for the bill, The National Rifle Association Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA), observed that the law took effect the moment the governor signed it.

Residents of the “Live Free or Die” state expressed their thanks, non-residents professed jealousy, while gun-grabbers were appalled.
