Saturday’s 2017 CPAC straw polls indicate that conservatives give President Donald Trump an overwhelming job approval rating one month into his administration.
Fox News reported:

This represents a huge turnaround for the president, who declined to appear at the 2016 annual Conservative Political Action Conference.
The poll also indicated that 80 percent agreed with the statement that “President Trump is realigning the Conservative Movement.”

On the minus side, however, only 44 percent of those who participated in the straw poll believed America was heading in the right direction.

However, the question suggested no assignment of responsibility for the country’s direction. Respondents may have referred to Democratic senators sandbagging their approval of Trump’s cabinet nominees when reaching this conclusion.
While on the subject of nominations, respondents urged the Republican Senate leadership to “go nuclear” when confirming the president’s U.S. Supreme Court nominee, Judge Neil Grouch.

Current Senate rules would require 60 votes to approve presidential picks to the high court. If they go nuclear, a simple 51 vote majority would be all that is needed to confirm.
The conference respondents also voiced their overwhelming approval of Trump’s handling of what has become his trademark issue — immigration. Fox News reported:
On the issue of immigration, 91 percent are in favor of the government cutting off federal funding to any sanctuary city, county or public college that refuses to cooperate with authorities to enforce immigration laws.
Additionally, 81 percent approve of Trump’s executive order on immigration temporarily halting citizens from seven Muslim-majority nations until a more thorough vetting process is put in place.
Finally, respondents were asked about the president’s use of social media — especially Twitter — to get his message out and bypass traditional media outlets. A full 70 percent approved.
A total of 1,447 CPAC attendees took part in the straw poll, The Washington Times reported.
