“Never speak ill of the dead” is apparently an adage the liberals at Slate magazine were never taught.
Every time a conservative is laid to rest we can expect the venom to come spewing forth from the mouths and pens of the left — but aimed at one of their own?
Fox News Channel reported Thursday that Alan Colmes died, ending his career with the network as a radio host, and before that, co-hosting a TV show on the network with conservative Sean Hannity.
Colmes was also one of the network’s resident liberal voices, and in that capacity often sent conservatives’ blood pressure soaring through the stratosphere.
The folks at Fox News Channel mourned his death and throughout the day, each program offered its own loving and heartfelt tribute.
Not Slate, however. Its headline described Colmes as a “liberal weakling,” and that was just the warm-up.
My obituary for Alan Clomes, for @Slate: https://t.co/umlH15YHp9

Once the reader got into the story, it only got worse. Slate’s Isaac Chotiner reported:
Colmes was the most absurd, useless, and mocked television personality in America for many years, precisely because he was nice. In the context of Fox News, being a nice guy—and a “liberal” nice guy at that—meant being a buffoon, and a patsy. Colmes not only played the part to perfection—he defined it.
Apparently the writer of the post could not reconcile with the fact that Colmes made a nice living for himself and provided an alternative voice at Fox News. Because in the progressive world, you hunker down to hive-mind in your safe space and shun anyone who might disagree.
Colmes no doubt had courage in spades compared to the writer who posted his hateful diatribe after he was dead.
Sick.
And did he write it for cheap clicks? Even worse!
People were understandably appalled, beginning with CNBC’s finance editor Jeff Cox.

@IChotiner @Slate bad spelling and bad taste – your tweet and piece are one in the same – callow and uninsightful

@IChotiner @Slate Alan Colmes is a lesson in civility and decency that modern day liberals just can’t grasp.

@IChotiner @Slate you have the gall to call this an obituary? you may as well have danced on his grave. have some respect.

@IChotiner @Slate How sad you chose 2 reduce the life of a good man 2 a poorly reasoned political diatribe. U must be a very unhappy person.

Finally one made the perfect suggestion to Karma.
@IChotiner @Slate hope someone writes a sweet obituary like this for you one day

What Chotiner probably didn’t realize is that his diatribe — lodged against a fellow liberal — is precisely the sort of behavior that turns his ideological brethren into conservatives.
One of the most recent converts was New York University professor Michael Rectenwald, who suffered the wrath of his fellow progressive thinkers for committing the cardinal sin of — appearing on Fox News.
“Today’s ‘Left’ is rife with the most obscene, abusive, nasty, spiritually ugly and utterly unethical, hypocritical and fanatically horrible people I’ve ever encountered in my 58 years on earth,” Rectenwald wrote of the experience.
And to the rest of you jaundiced liberals, come on over — the water’s fine.
