Texas Senator Ted Cruz had some choice – and colorful – words for Democrats and their voting base during a talk at the Conservative Political Action Conference.
The former Republican presidential candidate had a “Conversation about the Constitution” with talk-radio host Mark Levin during Thursday’s conference in which he said Democrats are “living in an alternative universe” since the election of President Donald Trump.

“They are in denial and they’re angry,” he said.
“The anger on the left, I’ve never seen anything like it,” Cruz said, noting that Democratic senators “are filibustering absolutely everything” as they oppose whatever the GOP proposes.
“From the left, their base… There’s a technical term for their base, ” Cruz began.
“Moscow,” Levin offered, as the audience broke into laughter.
“I was going a different direction which was ‘bat-crap crazy,'” Cruz said, nodding,
“Right now Democratic senators are more scared of their base than they are of the voters,” he continued.
He explained, to audience laughter, that the election lesson that Senate Democrats took away was that failed Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton was “too moderate.”
But Cruz did have a complimentary word for one Senate Democrat.
He thanked former Senator Harry Reid for his part in weakening the filibuster back in 2013 while attempting to make things harder for Republicans seeking to block former President Obama’s nominees.

“It is a direct result of Harry Reid that we now have the most conservative cabinet in decades,” Cruz said of the former Senate Majority Leader.

“And so, if I can be a little presumptuous, Mark,” Cruz continued, “let me on behalf of CPAC thank Harry Reid. Harry Reid, thank you for Attorney General Jeff Sessions.”
But Cruz was not done raising his water bottle in a mock toast as the audience applauded.
“And also we should be thanking Harry Reid for EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt, for Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, and very, very soon I look forward to thanking Harry Reid for Supreme Court Justice Gorsuch.”
