Rep. Dana Rohrabacher was “outraged” by protesters at his district office who he claimed knocked his 71 year-old staffer unconscious.
Protesters gathered at the Republican congressman’s Huntington Beach, Calif., office on Tuesday, were responsible for Rohrabacher’s district director, Kathleen Staunton being sent to the hospital.

Staunton, who has managed Rohrabacher’s office since his first term in 1989, tried to leave through the front door to go to the bathroom when a “protester yanked the door open, causing her to fall and hit her head,” according to a statement from the congressman’s office.

A two year-old girl was also pushed over by the door, but was not injured. Staunton was taken to the hospital.
Rohrabacher’s office said the protesters were part of a nationwide movement calling themselves Indivisible which pledges to resist President Trump’s agenda by trying to occupy Republican congressional offices. The group on Tuesday was reportedly delivering Valentine’s Day cards as part of the protest.

Though Rohrabacher was in Washington, D.C. at the time of the incident, he issued a statement slamming the “mob action” of the protesters, vowing to hold them accountable.
“I am outraged beyond words that protesters who mobbed my Huntington Beach office violently knocked down my faithful district director, Kathleen Staunton, causing her to be hospitalized. And, yes, deliberate or not, the incident came as part of a mob action that not only intimidates but coerces,” Rohrabacher said. “Though the protesters think of themselves as idealists, they engaged in political thuggery, pure and simple.”
The congressman also blasted the “supreme hypocrisy” of the “Indivisible” name the group has adopted.

“In fact, they are bent on dividing the nation, defying the will of voters and undermining the legitimacy of the election. These holier-than-thou obstructionists will be held responsible for this outrageous assault,” he said. “They are exposing themselves for what they are — enemies of American self-government and democracy.”
