Actor Ashton Kutcher and Senator John McCain shared an odd exchange on Capitol Hill that brought laughter to the otherwise serious tone of a Senate hearing.
McCain poked a little fun at Kutcher’s looks Wednesday after thanking him for appearing at a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on human trafficking.

“I also want to thank Elisa and Ashton,” the Republican senator said, adding “Ashton you were better looking in the movies.”
Was that a lame attempt at a joke?
Either way, Kutcher responded by blowing the senator a kiss, prompting laughter from the audience.
The 39 year-old actor spoke passionately during the hearing about his work saving children from sexual abuse and fighting against human trafficking.
With his ex-wife Demi Moore, Kutcher had co-founded Thorn: Digital Defenders of Children, an organization that uses technology to help locate victims of human trafficking.
“For years now, Thorn has been committed to building tech tools to combat child sexual exploitation and facilitating collaborations across the tech industry to disrupt these crimes. We have no intention of stopping until we win this battle,” Kutcher said.
The actor, who with his wife, actress Mila Kunis, have a two-month-old son and two-year-old daughter, said his goal was to “defend the right to pursue happiness.”
“But the right to pursue happiness, for so many, is stripped away. It’s raped. It’s abused. It’s taken by force, fraud, or coercion. It is sold for the momentary happiness of another,” he said.
Kutcher gave an emotional testimony, at times visibly holding back tears, as he described meeting victims worldwide and being part of FBI raids where he saw things “no person should ever see.”
