Schwarzenegger dishes on how he REALLY felt when the not-so-friendly rivalry ignited with Trump

Many thought Donald Trump and Arnold Schwarzenegger were engaging in a friendly rivalry over their respective hosting of NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice” and that the pair were just aiming to boost ratings. But after what Arnold just said, it appears that “friendly” isn’t the word for it at all. It’s down right chilly.

It now looks like Arnold may not be having all that much fun with this “rivalry” over the show’s ratings after all. In a new interview Arnold admits that smashing Trump’s face into a table crossed his mind.

With all the back and forth having occurred over the ratings, many thought that this rivalry was all about a fun series of jabs between the two, but in the interview in Men’s Journal, Arnold shows that “fun” is far from the right word for it all.

“I called my assistant and said, ‘I think what we really should do is request a meeting and go back to New York,'” Schwarzenegger said of the first tweet-jab from Trump. “‘And then we just smash his face into the table,'” he laughed.

“And then I think we can’t do that, either. I think I have to be above all of that and put him on the spot.” That’s when Schwarzenegger responded on Twitter and the feud took off from there.

It all started back on January 6 when Trump took a few shots at the ratings of the new show hosted by former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger. Trump uncorked several tweets jabbing Arnold for having lower ratings than the original Trump-hosted show.

Arnold took the “high road,” as he said in the recent interview, and tweeted in reply that he wished Trump the best of luck “working for ALL of the American people as aggressively as you worked for your ratings.”

President Trump seemed to be in a joyful mood when when he took another jab at Arnold’s ratings at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington D.C. saying that since Arnold took over the “ratings went right down the tubes.”

“When I ran for president I had to leave the show, that’s when knew for sure I was dong it,” Trump said from the dais. “And they hired a big, big movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger to take my place.”

Trump then spoke to producer Mark Burnett who was in attendance, saying, “And we know how that turned out. The ratings went right down the tubes, it’s been a total disaster. And Mark will never, ever bet against Trump again.”

With a laugh Trump concluded saying, “I want to just pray for Arnold if we can — for those ratings.”

Many thought the National Prayer Breakfast was the wrong place for Trump’s joking around but others imagined it was just a way to help Arnold along with the ratings. Some even speculated it was all pre-planned.

After the Prayer Breakfast jab, Schwarzenegger got in a good rejoinder of his own when he said, “Hey Donald, I have a great idea. Why don’t we switch jobs? You take over TV because you’re such an expert on ratings and I take over your job and then people can finally sleep comfortably again.”

Arnold continues to take the high road, but it sure seems like the fun is drained of it all. And just this week the whole incident has caused Arnold to reflect on Abe Lincoln.
