It seems leftists and liberals can’t even take the credit for their own protests.
A University of California, Berkeley professor suggested that Wednesday’s violent riots that forced the cancellation of a speech by Breitbart editor Milo Yiannopoulos were actually part of a right-wing plot.
CNN’s Don Lemon began the segment Thursday by saying the riots “play right into the hands of a right-wing, white supremacist, someone like Milo Yiannopoulos.”
“It absolutely does, Don,” the professor eagerly started.
Really?
“I was there for part of last night, and I know what I saw and those people were not Berkeley students. Those were outside agitators. I have never seen them before,” Robert Reich, Berkeley professor and former Labor Secretary under Bill Clinton, told Lemon in the panel discussion.

“There’s rumors that they actually were right-wingers. They were a part of a kind of group that were organized and ready to create the kind of tumult and danger you saw that forced the police to cancel the event,” Reich argued. “So Donald Trump, when he says Berkeley doesn’t respect free speech rights, that’s a complete distortion of the truth.”

Violence broke out at the campus ahead of a speech by conservative commentator Yiannopoulos, with protesters setting fires, destroying property and attacking supporters of the gay Breitbart News editor and President Donald Trump, who threatened to cut off federal funds to the school.
Despite widespread left-wing support for the actions that led to the shut-down of the event, Reich was convinced right-wing groups, Breitbart and even Yiannopoulos himself staged the violence.
“You think this is a strategy by Yiannopoulos or right-wingers, they put this on in effort to show there’s no free speech on a college campus like UC-Berkeley?” Lemon asked.
“I wouldn’t bet against it, Don,” Reich replied.
“Again, I saw these people. They all looked almost paramilitary, they were not from the campus,” he said.
“I’ve heard — again I don’t know want to say factually — but I’ve heard there’s some relationship there between these people and the right-wing, and the right-wing movement that is affiliated with Breitbart News,” Reich insisted.
Wonder if the progressive professor thought right-wing Trump supporters were also behind the violent protests on Inauguration Day, since the left is never to blame.
“Berkeley opened its biggest auditorium to this right-wing Breitbart news character — this hateful odious person — but said free speech is most important thing we stand for,” Reich told Lemon. “And it was these outsiders who caused police to finally come in and cancel it.”
