The anti-Trump rhetoric is not only ill-conceived, but it’s poorly timed.
NBC News political director Chuck Todd observed the huge anti-Donald Trump protests coming from the left and wondered where it was during the presidential campaign when it could have done Hillary Clinton some good.

So he posed the question to former Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook Thursday on MSNBC’s “MTP Daily.”
Todd noted two recent protests against the Trump administration at about the 1:05 mark. “One was a very organized protest; one was more spontaneous,” he observed.
“And you ask yourself, where was this energy in the Democratic side in September, October, November when it might have been useful?” Todd asked.
Mook admitted that the campaign worked on the presumption that it had the election in the bag.
“A big lesson in coming out of this is that you can’t ever take a result for granted,” he conceded.
“But what matters now is the future,” he added, looking ahead. “I think the fact that there is so much energy and so much activism is a great thing. We’ve got to focus it and apply the pressure where it’s actually going to make a difference, and that’s on the Hill.”
The Democrats are a little late there also. Republicans control both chambers of Congress, and while the GOP doesn’t have a 60-member filibuster-proof supermajority in the Senate, thanks to former Democratic Sen. Harry Reid, cabinet nominees can be approved by a simple 51-vote majority.
Too bad.
