The liberal mainstream media is constantly looking for a “gotcha!” moment with the Trump Administration. Unfortunately for them, White House press secretary Sean Spicer won’t allow MSM to push their biased narratives.
In a bizarre exchange at his first full press conference, ABC News reporter Jonathan Karl basically asked Spicer if he’s a liar.
Karl asked: “Is it your intention to always tell the truth from that podium? And will you pledge never to knowingly say something that is not factual?”
Spicer replied: “Yes, I believe we have to be honest with the American people. There are certain things that we may not fully understand when we come out, but our intention is never to lie to you, Jonathan.”
Spicer added that honesty is a two-way street, and the media has an equal responsibility to be honest and fair.
Spicer said the media is constantly looking for ways to embarrass President Trump or to push an anti-Trump agenda when their job is to OBJECTIVELY report the facts.
“It’s a two-way street,” Spicer said. “We want to have a healthy and open dialogue with the press corps … [but] when a tweet goes out in a pool report to a few thousand people saying he removed the bust of Martin Luther King, how do you think that goes over?”
Spicer was referring to an inflammatory tweet by Time magazine writer Zeke Miller, who claimed that Trump had removed a bust of Martin Luther King Jr. from the Oval Office. That is false.
Miller, an outspoken anti-Trumper, later apologized to his media colleagues and to Sean Spicer for the fake news tweet.
But Miller never apologized to President Trump or to the public for circulating the bogus rumor promoting his narrative that Trump is racist.
Tweeting again: wh aide confirms the MLK bust is still there. I looked for it in the oval 2x & didn't see it. My apologies to my colleagues

Jonathan Karl’s inane question had many on Twitter pointing out the absurd hypocrisy of the left-wing media, who never asked the same of Obama press secretary Josh Earnest.
One Twitter user wondered: “Did the press suddenly grow a conscience?”
.@jonkarl where was the demand of pledge of honesty the last 8 years? Did press suddenly grow a conscience? @DailySignal @SteveDeaceShow https://t.co/KOFpHnRI9o

Others on Twitter wanted to know when is the press going to take an “honesty pledge” in light of the fact that 94% of the public say they do not trust the media.
.@DailySignal @c_cgottlieb @seanspicer @jonkarl and the press should be taking that oath. It is more their job

One reporter said a colleague’s annoyed facial expression best summed up the media’s collective reaction to Jonathan Karl’s dumb question.
