A Democratic leader claimed his black niece called him crying the night Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton lost the election.
Raymond Buckley, a candidate for the Democratic National Committee chair, retold the story at the DNC Chair Candidates Forum Monday, reports The Washington Free Beacon.
Buckley took a moment to condemn Republicans for their view on “Black Lives Matter,” before relating how devastated his 20-year-old niece was over the election.
According to Buckley, she begged him to help her flee the country because President Donald Trump won.

“At 6 o’clock in the morning, I was woken up. I saw that it was my niece, Taneisha, and what had not even processed in my mind when I was so upset about what the results were was how she, as a young African American 20-year old, how she processed what happened the night before and she was sobbing so hard that I couldn’t understand at first what she was saying,” Buckley went on.
Other DNC chair candidates also spoke during the forum about race. A white female candidate boldly declared that she would “shut down white people” as part of her job.
“My job is to shut other white people down when they want to interrupt,” Sally Boynton Brown said. “My job is to shut other white people down when they want to say, ‘oh, no, I’m not prejudice; I’m a Democrat; I’m accepting.’”
