Earnest says ‘ample evidence’ Trump knew about and called on Russia to ‘hack his opponent’

It’s becoming like that game played by kids, where one whispers something into the ear of another and the story goes around down the line and ends up being something completely different.

The White House is now embellishing the “Russian hacking” story even further with the claim that “ample evidence” exists that President-elect Donald Trump knew of and encouraged the Russian government to hack the Democratic National Committee.

“There is ample evidence that it was known long before the election, and in most cases long before October, by the Trump campaign and Russia,” Earnest claimed at about the 1:44:40 mark into Wednesday’s White House daily briefing. “Everything from the Republican nominee himself calling on Russia to hack his opponent.”

In case the press pool didn’t get the message, he reiterated his claim.

“It might be an indication that he was obviously aware and concluded, based on whatever facts or sources he had available to him, that Russia was involved and their involvement was having a negative impact on his opponent’s campaign.”

Earnest then suggested that Trump encouraged Russian hacking, in apparent reference to his July tongue-in-cheek statement calling on the Russian government to release Clinton’s deleted emails.

“That’s why he was encouraging them to keep doing it,” Earnest concluded.

Trump supporters on social media thought Earnest was either embellishing or outright lying to the press, in an attempt to find fault for the Democratic presidential loss somewhere other than the candidate.

Finally, how quickly Clinton supporters changed their messaging.

Now that Sen. Harry Reid has retired to his Nevada pomegranate grove, someone has to pick up the anti-GOP rhetoric and story-telling, and it fell on Earnest. He’s already shown a talent for it.
