A ‘Bad’ Santa Claus in North Carolina resigned after being accused of “fat shaming” a 9-year-old boy who came to ask for an iPod.
Anthony Mayse said he was reduced to tears after visiting the Santa Claus in his home town of Forest City, North Carolina. The boy wanted to ask for an iPod and a little flying drone, but instead was told to lay off the hamburgers and fries, according to WLOS, the local ABC affiliate.

“When he got done, he said, ‘Lay off the hamburgers and french fries,'” the boy explained. “And that really just disrespected me, and I felt awful.”
“I went out and started crying, because I just felt so bad,” the boy added.
The boy’s mother was infuriated at the incident.
“He acted like he didn’t want to be there to do the job,” she said before adding, “Very rude. I’ve never seen anything like it.”
“When he went to apologize to me, he didn’t even mean it,” Anthony said.
“I’m hoping he’s fired, because I don’t want any kid feeling like he did Saturday,” she said. “I mean, it destroyed him.”

According to a statement from town officials, the mall Santa has apologized to Anthony and the Mayse family, and has since resigned from his post, Fox News reported.
The story caused an array of criticism.
CNN quipped, “For one, where does Santa get off burning others about their weight? You break into people’s houses and gorge yourself on cookies, buddy, take a look in the mirror!”
Folks on Twitter were equally unhappy.

Still, some Twitter users actually thought that the Forest City Santa had a good point…

In any case, maybe this Santa trained with the Santa from “A Christmas Story”…
Of course, the fired Santa is reported as being very upset that this all went so wrong.
