Trump responds big to phone call freakout: ‘Did China ask us if it was OK to devalue our currency?’

Donald Trump says people who are outraged that he took a phone call should take a chill pill.

The president-elect shut down detractors who are freaking out that he accepted a congratulatory call from Taiwanese president Tsai Ing-wen by saying he won’t ask China for permission to talk to anyone because they certainly didn’t ask for our permission before taking actions that hurt the U.S. economy.

The media-driven controversy erupted after Trump announced on Twitter that he had taken a call from the democratically-elected president of Taiwan, a longtime U.S. ally.

The United States does not have formal diplomatic relations with Taiwan because of the “one China” policy that has been in place since 1979. The policy is based on China’s claim that Taiwan is a part of China.

China has since filed a formal complaint about the call. Naturally, liberal media are sounding the alarms, claiming Trump’s purported snub will destroy U.S. relations with China and lead to World War III.

The media outrage has gotten so over the top that even Bill Burton — a Trump critic and former deputy White House press secretary under President Obama —was disgusted.

Others on Twitter also expressed their annoyance with the media-fueled faux controversy.

Meanwhile, as the media bleats over non-issues (like a 10-minute courtesy call), they refuse to give Trump credit for being proactive in saving 1,100 Carrier jobs just in time for Christmas.

“If Barack Obama had done this before stepping into the White House, there would be smelling salts being passed all over New York City,” said Brent Bozell, president of the Media Research Center.
