President Barack Obama said that First Lady Michelle Obama will not pursue any public office, according to a Rolling Stone interview released Tuesday.
“Michelle will never run for office,” Obama told Rolling Stone. “She is as talented a person as I know. You can see the incredible resonance she has with the American people. But I joke that she’s too sensible to want to be in politics.”
Obama spoke for his wife on her political career several times before the election, but this is the first time since President-elect won the White House.
Michelle Obama worked on Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s campaign trail, but told reporters throughout the course of the run that she had a distaste for partisan politics. Aides told The Hill that Michelle Obama has an idea of what she wants to do after she leaves the White House, and politics has no part in that vision.
