BET founder meets with Trump, tells black America: ‘Let’s give him a shot’

Mainstream media will have to find another false anti-Trump narrative to push as more prominent African-Americans come out to support him.

Robert “Bob” Johnson, one of the country’s most powerful black moguls, spoke with President-elect Donald Trump over the weekend and emerged with a message for the country: Give Trump a chance.

Johnson, the co-founder of Black Entertainment Television (BET), has known Trump for years and is confident the brash billionaire can turn the economy around in a way that will benefit all Americans, especially struggling black communities.

“I’ve known him for a number of years, and he knew who I was,” John told CNBC. “He’s attended BET events in the past and we both have homes in Florida.”

Johnson wanted to speak with Trump because of the media-driven perception that Trump is an enemy of the African-American community.

“I thought I’d meet to see if there’s common ground with someone most in the black community might call an enemy,” Johnson said. “I had very positive dialogue with president-elect Trump.”

Johnson added: “Let’s give him a shot. Let’s give him the benefit of the doubt. See if we can find common ground. That’s what’s best for African-Americans.”

While the mainstream liberal media aggressively pushed the narrative that Trump had no support from black voters, he actually got more votes from African-Americans than Mitt Romney or John McCain.

Johnson said Trump’s plans to encourage businesses to bring jobs back to the U.S. will help everyone, including the black community.

“Trump is a business guy, and I think he’s going to tilt towards finding a way to use fiscal policy to move the economy forward,” Johnson said.
