Coulter, a very vocal supporter of the Republican presidential nominee, earned a load of social media backlash for her tweet.
@AnnCoulter there is so much stupidity in this tweet my head hurts

@AnnCoulter you are without doubt the most ridiculous thing twitter ever spewed forth. And that is quite a contest to win..,
— Francis Leach (@SaintFrankly) November 8, 2016
@AnnCoulter You’re a very strange person, Ann Coulter.
— Payman Benz (@PaymanBenz) November 8, 2016
There was also one glaring flaw in Coulter’s premise that was quick to be pointed out.
But then Trump couldn’t run, since his mom and paternal grandparents weren’t born in the US. So, um, yeah. https://t.co/7Uxwnuqk0Q

— amanda blount (@amandablount2) November 8, 2016
@Mikel_Jollett @AnnCoulter So as others have pointed out, Trump’s kids don’t get to vote.
— zs (@Gonzeux) November 8, 2016
@Gonzeux @Mikel_Jollett @AnnCoulter All four of Trump’s grandparents were born in Europe, and so was his mother https://t.co/bMw83a1Vf4

@jaketapper I guess George Washington would have had trouble with Coulter’s rule.

— Sheev (@Mjolnir613) November 8, 2016
@boris3324 @co_rapunzel4 @emerging_enigma @AnnCoulter @HarvardShaker1 fun fact: none of the founding fathers were born in the USA.
— (((Mr. Jordon))) (@Paul197) November 8, 2016
@jaketapper @david_hewson How can anyone have more than four grandparents? ?
— Angela Stillwell (@AngelaStillwell) November 8, 2016
@EricKleefeld @dearauntierose and what does she mean by “at least 4 grandparents”? Isn’t that the biological limit?
