Actress Hilary Duff ended up in hot water with social justice warriors everywhere this Halloween with her choice of costumes bringing howls of “cultural appropriation” when she and her boyfriend were seen dressed as an Indian and a Pilgrim at a recent costume party in Los Angeles.

Duff and her new boyfriend, Jason Walsh, showed up at the L.A. bash in their traditional American-styled Indian/Pilgrim pairing but as soon as the photos of the party were publicized the liberals got their dander up and began to attack Duff for daring to have her boyfriend — a white guy — dress like an indian. Naturally, they called Duff and Walsh racists for the costume choice.

After being attacked both “offenders” took to their social media to bow before the attackers to offer apologies. One-time Disney star Duff, for one, said she was “so sorry” for the costumes.

For his part, Walsh jumped onto his Instagram account to say he “meant no disrespect” with his costume.

I meant no disrespect. I only have admiration for the indigenous people of America. In hindsight I would not have made that decision. I apologize to anyone I may have offended.

Still, overwrought social justice warriors — many of whom were white, by the way — excoriated Duff on Twitter.

Still, despite the gnashing of teeth, there were dozens of fans telling Duff not to apologize because it was just a costume, not a political or racial statement.
