Potential vice presidential running mates for Hillary Clinton were grouped by race, gender and other characteristics according to an email revealed Tuesday by WikiLeaks.
Clinton campaign officials divided the list of possible vice presidential picks into “food groups” based on attributes like ethnicity and gender, ABC News reported.
Campaign chairman John Podesta sent the March 17, 2016 email to Clinton following the Democratic presidential nominee win of five primaries – in Missouri, Ohio, Illinois, North Carolina and Florida.
“Let me know if there are people you would like to see added or removed before we begin the process,” he wrote in the email. “I have organized names in rough food groups.”

He then listed names of potential picks, categorized in groups like military leaders, wealthy business leaders, black men, white men, Hispanics and women.
The list included many political names, including Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts, Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe, former Attorney General Eric Holder, former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine who was eventually selected.
Also included were business leaders such as General Motors CEO Mary Barra, Apple CEO Tim Cook, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates and CEO Howard Schultz of Starbucks.
Amusingly, Clinton’s Democratic opponent, Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, earned his own group, seeming to defy any other categorization.
