The Department of Justice and the FBI agreed to destroy the notebook computers belonging to Cheryl Mills and Heather Samuelson after they were inspected, Fox News reported Monday.
Mills was Hillary Clinton’s chief of staff when Clinton served as secretary of state; Samuelson was the State Department’s White House liaison during the same period, and afterwards served as a Clinton lawyer.
Both Mills and Samuelson were granted immunity from prosecution by the Department of Justice late last month. The terms of their immunity agreements have not been disclosed by either the DOJ or the FBI.
The agreement to destroy the computers was first reported on Twitter by Fox News anchor Shannon Bream:

The agreement to destroy the laptops came to light through a letter from House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte to Attorney General Loretta Lynch.
In his letter dated Monday, the Virginia Republican asked Lynch 10 questions, the first being, “Why did the FBI agree to destroy both Cheryl Mills’ and Heather Samuelson’s laptops after concluding its search?”

Goodlatte also asked whether the computers or their contents had already been destroyed, “thereby making follow-up investigations by the FBI, or Congressional oversight, impossible?”

Rep. Trey Gowdy, who’s a member of the House Judiciary Committee, has long-0requestred details of the immunity agreements that the DOJ and FBI have granted witnesses.
During an appearance on Fox Business Network Sunday, he called for a “fresh look” of the evidence against Clinton — and insisted that it be done before the election rather than after.
