Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton sees no reason her husband, former President Bill Clinton, should resign from his position at the Clinton Foundation before November.
“I don’t think there are conflicts of interest,”she told ABC News’ David Muir on Monday. “I know that that’s what has been alleged and never proven. But nevertheless, I take it seriously.”

Clinton noted that she was proud of her husband despite the controversy surrounding the Foundation which is accused of “pay-to-play” schemes that rewarded donors with special favors and access to the State Department.
“I’m very proud of the work that the Clinton Foundation has done,” Clinton said in the joint interview with her running mate, Sen. Tim Kaine. “It’s a world-renowned charity because of the work that my husband started and many, many people helped him with.”
“He started this great work. He has made it his life’s work, after the presidency,” she continued. “And he has said, if I am so fortunate enough to be elected, he will not be involved. And I think that is appropriate.”
Clinton added that she felt good about the work of the Foundation and that she was never “influenced by anybody” as secretary of state.
“All of these questions about the Clinton Foundation, I am more than happy to answer. But I do hope that people will take a look at what the foundation has done, what charitable enterprises it’s involved in,” she said. “No decision I made was, you know, influenced by anything other than doing what was best for the United States.”
