Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are now on equal footing as far as unpopularity goes.
Clinton reached a new high in her unpopularity rating according to the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll, making her just as unpopular as Donald Trump among registered voters.
Up 6 percentage points in only three weeks, 56 percent of all adults surveyed view the Democratic presidential nominee unfavorably, while 63 percent view Trump the same way. They are running closer among registered voters with 59 percent rating Clinton unfavorably and 60 percent viewing Trump as unfavorable.
The two nominees are “the two most unpopular presidential candidates in polling dating back more than 30 years,” according to the poll. Clinton’s numbers can be attributed to weeks of scrutiny into her email scandal as well as alleged connections between the Clinton Foundation and her work as secretary of state.
Clinton’s rise in unpopularity can be seen in some of her core support groups.
Her popularity among women voters has flipped completely from last month, going from 54 percent favorable to 45 percent. This is the first time in a year that most women have viewed Clinton unfavorably. A large drop was also seen by Hispanic voters as 71 percent viewed her favorably in early August but only 55 percent by late August.
Her popularity also fell among Democrats, going from 87 percent to 79 percent while among Independents, her  approval fell by 8 points over the past month, 39 percent to 31 percent. Not surprisingly, 88 percent of Republicans see her unfavorably.
The ABC News/Washington Post poll was conducted among a random national sample of 1,020 adults from Aug. 24-28, 2016 by landline and cell phone and has a margin of error of 3.5 points.
