Being outspoken must be in the blood.
Heido Russo claims to be Colin Kaepernick’s birth mother and is now working as an adoption advocate, according to her Twitter account. She had some tough words for the 49ers quarterback who refused to stand for the national anthem.
“There are other ways to make change,” she scolded Kaepernick directly on Twitter. And she reminded him of the blessings he ought to be thankful for.
@Kaepernick7 There's ways to make change w/o disrespecting & bringing shame to the very country & family who afforded you so many blessings.

Russo took a TON of heat for her tweet as can be expected.
@SeasonO1 @Heidirn1 I’m sure Colin’s real parents are proud of him. Heidi wants attention and is upset CK offended her type of people.

.@Heidirn1 SERIOUSLY? Publicly scolding/shaming the adult son you didn’t raise?!? You have some bloody gall, lady. #adoption #adoptees

@Heidirn1 @Kaepernick7 you gave birth but you’re not his mom. He doesn’t need/want your opinion. #stayinyourlane

Actually, when Kaepernick went public with his act, he asked for all of our opinions, and for now, it looks like Russo is sticking to hers. She later sent him this message from a “non-oppressed black man,” conservative Allen West:
Message from a non-oppressed black man to Colin Kaepernick… https://t.co/yCk3ajNZFH via @AllenWest
— Heidi Russo (@Heidirn1) August 30, 2016
A portion of that message can be read below:
First of all, let me clarify to you sir, you are a multi-millionaire “one-percenter” just because you can throw a ball and kiss your biceps. Men like Jesse Owens, Jackie Robinson, Hank Aaron, Oscar Robertson, Ernie Davis, and Bernard King and Condredge Halloway of my alma mater were athletes who knew of oppression. You sir may certainly have the right to sit upon your “fourth point of contact” when the National Anthem is played but never forget, you live in a nation that has provided you the privilege to have that right.
Interestingly enough, Russo re-tweeted the following quote from Winston Churchill about a month ago.
Russo isn’t the only one taking a stand, see how Donald Trump responded to Kaepernick HERE.
