Donald Trump heads to devastated Louisiana in a move even his critics are calling ‘smart’

Donald Trump announced Thursday that he and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence will be touring flood-ravaged Louisiana on Friday.

ABC News Politics reported that the Republican presidential nominee and his running mate will concentrate on the state’s hardest-hit area of Baton Rouge.

Trump commented on the Louisiana flood Thursday night at the opening of a campaign event in Charlotte, North Carolina.

“We are one nation. When one state hurts, we all hurt — and we must all work together to lift each other up. Working, building, restoring together,” he said, according to The Hill.

CNN contributor and Trump supporter Kayleigh McEnany tweeted:

President Obama, meanwhile, is still vacationing in Martha’s Vineyard, spending much of his time on the golf course.

Conservative author and syndicated columnist Ben Shapiro, who is no fan of the Republican presidential nominee, had to nonetheless hand it to Trump.

And others picked up on that theme.
