Muslim nations can’t put away the hate, reportedly harass Israeli Olympians

Israeli competitors are enduring slights, sneers and discrimination at the hands of other athletes at the Rio de Janeiro for the 2016 Summer Games.

And, unsurprisingly, the vitriol is mostly coming from athletes representing Muslim nations.

In fact, it has been so bad that the animosity has triggered a reprimand from the International Olympic Committee and rebukes by groups like the Anti-Defamation League, according to The Washington Times.

Roz Rothstein, CEO of the pro-Israel group Stand With Us, noted that the Lebanese and Saudi delegations are making a mockery of the games with their attacks and mistreatment of Israeli athletes.

“Instead of using the events to forget animosity and promote peace between people, they have brought their brainwashed minds to Rio,” Rothstein said in a statement. “How unfortunate that they could not implement the good, peaceful intentions of the Olympics, and instead have used it as a forum to spread hate and continued rejection of peace.”

Arab and Muslim athletes have been entirely open about their hatred for the Israeli competitors and even blocked the Jewish athletes from boarding a bus to take them to a venue.

That led the IOC to issue a reprimand to the Lebanese Olympic delegation.

Miri Regev, Israeli minister of culture and sports, slammed the Lebanese athletes as exhibiting “anti-Semitism, pure and simple, and the worst kind of racism.”

This has been far from the only incident of anti-Israel hate on display, though. Saudi judo star Joud Fahmy forfeited a match so she wouldn’t have to face an Israeli opponent.

Of course, Israel isn’t the only nation being discriminated against at the 2016 games. In a recent report, NBC wanted everyone to know that the whole world is rooting against the American women’s indoor volleyball team.
