Black Lives Matter spreads across the pond; activists wreak havoc at airports, highways

Apparently the Black Lives Matter movement is aiming to become an international sensation if recent protests in England are any indication.

In one incident, a group of Britons who claim to be part of Black Lives Matter shut down the roadway in front of England’s busiest airport by chaining themselves together and lying down on the roadway preventing cars from entering Heathrow Airport, The Daily Mail reported.

In another incident, activists in Birmingham shut down a highway preventing an ambulance from reaching a local hospital.

The patient was delayed by the protest, according to the West Midlands Ambulance Service. The newspaper reported that “a crew were on the way to hospital with a patient on board.” An ambulance service spokesman added that they had to enlist the aid of the police to get the ambulance on its way.

This isn’t the first time BLM activists have prevented ambulances from saving people’s lives. On July 11, paramedics criticized a BLM protest in Memphis, Tennessee, when the protest forced an ambulance driver to make a life-threatening detour to get to a local hospital.

Emergency services in Boston revealed the same problem when BLM protesters shut down a roadway preventing paramedics for working to save a baby’s life.

During the British protests, several BLM protesters were arrested.

“A number of people were reported to be blocking the road leading to the airport. Four people have been arrested and taken to west London police stations where they remain in custody,” a police spokesman said.

“A further six people have been arrested at the scene. Police are in the process of safely releasing these protesters who have ‘locked on’ to each other. One lane remains closed to ensure the safety of protesters and officers,” the officer added.

Many local area Britons were not happy to see the protests. The Mail posted several reactions to the disruption.

Like many BLM activists in the U.S., many of these UK protesters are rushing to the support of a criminal who was shot by police. In 2014, black gangster Mark Duggan was shot by a police sharpshooter during a standoff. The officer who pulled the trigger said Duggan was holding a gun and he felt he needed to stop the criminal from opening fire and putting others in danger. The shooting was deemed a legal, proper shooting, but BLM activists there have used the shooting as a rallying point.

In the U.S., BLM has often degenerated into a strictly racist effort. During the Democrat National Convention in Philadelphia, for instance, a BLM activist demanded that white members of the media be put in the back so that black members of the media could stand in front of the media area.

Worse, after the shooting of several Dallas police officers early in July, BLM supporters flooded Twitter with some of the worst, most hateful and racist tweets imaginable.
