New ‘reparations’ website has guilt-ridden white people giving away, well, just about everything

Is white privilege leaving you guilt-ridden? Are you looking for a way to repair the damage caused by your ancestors, whether they were slave owners or abolitionists?

Look no further than Reparations.me, a website from Seattle-basted artist Natasha Marin that affords self-hating white people the opportunity to help African-Americans recover from slavery, despite the fact there isn’t a single African-American alive who experienced antebellum slavery.

As Marin explains the process:

I invite People of Color to ask for what we need to feel better, be happier, be more productive by posting in this space. These may be both material and immaterial requests.

I invite people who identify as White to offer services or contributions to People of Color in need of time, energy, substantive care, and support.

Here are some of the offers coming from soft-hearted people:

#OFFER: I would like to offer pet sitting on the weekends in San Francisco, cooking and food delivery when folks are sick, and I have a car if one needs a ride somewhere.

If I can help, I want to help.

#OFFERING: Job hunting assistance, resume writing, career advice, pay research, skills evaluation. I was a stay-at-home mom for seven years. I know what it is like to feel like your skills are rusty and your education is worthless and you have nothing to offer and you should just stay in that part-time minimum wage gig for a little while more. I know what it is like to be caught in that inertia of “I can’t do any better”…. and I can help you break free.

Seattle weekly reported:

In barely a week and a half, hundreds of people have offered, requested, or fulfilled all that and far more; thousands of dollars have been donated, including to the “Troll Fund,” which Marin created so that for every racist message the site receives, one dollar will go directly to someone requesting financial assistance. (Donors have been dubbed “Troll-Slayers,” and, as the site boasts, “Hate can buy groceries now.”) Reparations.me has even facilitated a potential kidney donation.

“If people start getting kidneys,” Marin joked with Seattle Weekly, “I get a day off.”

And here are some more of the things Marin’s customers are seeking:

REQUEST: Life Support

#Request: Please help me get on my feet

My name is Ashley and I live in Chesapeake, Virginia. I was assaulted by police walking home on 7/05 of this year and have been dealing with the trauma and depression ever since. I have been missing work due to illness and have consequently fallen behind on bills and groceries.

Any contribution (time, energy, service, financial support) would be greatly appreciated.

REQUEST: Gaming Therapy

I know it may not sound like a serious request, but it is serious to me. Between school and bills, my wallet is pretty empty when it comes to leisure funds. So, I ask you to help me obtain a game. I have several on my list, but the one I want the most is the new World of Warcraft game, due out August 30th. Gaming is how I unwind from the day’s stress, so this would provide some much needed relaxation for me.

Make no mistake, much of the Liberal media is eating this up.
