Californians quizzed recently on the reason we celebrate the Fourth of July responded with an embarrassing assortment of answers.
Media analyst Mark Dice took to the beach in San Diego, conducting man-on-the-street interviews about the origins of Independence Day celebrations. The results would make any history teacher cringe.
Those quizzed offered a stream of incorrect guesses and an inability to answer facts any American should know. One man even noted his favorite Founding Father was Jesse Ventura, the professional wrestler who was born over a century after the Declaration of Independence was signed.
All hope was not lost, however, as the final answers finally nailed it.
