The populist revolt within the Republican Party is attracting plenty of new voters, but it’s also jettisoning some dead weight along the way.
The latest casualty – Washington Post columnist George Will.
Will has, apparently, given up on waging war within his party to purge it of those dastardly Trump supporters and bring it back to the ‘good old days’ when neocons were neocons and everyone who was anyone supported open borders, gutting America’s manufacturing base, and endless foreign wars.
Alas, pouts Will, those days are gone, so he’s taking his marbles and starting another club, or something.
He’s actually changing his Maryland voter registration from “Republican” to “unaffiliated.” For what it’s worth though (probably not much), Will IS encouraging other like-minded ‘conservatives’ to join him on the Hillary Express.
Because being ‘conservative’ means supporting Hillary Clinton (because let’s face it, if you’re actively working against Trump you ARE supporting Clinton) over anyone who would dare put America and American interests first.
In an interview with PJ Media, Will did acknowledge that it is likely a “little too late” for the Party to find a viable replacement for Trump, but his message to Republican voters, if anyone is listening, is, “Make sure he loses. Grit their teeth for four years and win the White House.”
During his speech at a Federalist Society luncheon, Will told attendees, “This is not my party.”
No George – it’s working America’s party, and after years of bad policies and betrayals from you and your buddies, we’re finally taking it back.
Will is generally right about one thing, that “gridlock” is a good thing in government “nine times out of 10.”
“Gridlock is not an American problem. It’s an American achievement,” he said. Some countries, according to Will, “wish” their governments were gridlocked, because it can stop things the federal government shouldn’t be involved in.
What Will doesn’t realize, though, is once liberals get a permanent hold on the Supreme Court, there will be no more ‘gridlock,’ because everything will be legislated from the bench!
When PJ Media asked the columnist about Republican concerns about the Supreme Court, Will stunningly brought up the fact that many Republican nominees have turned out to be liberals. “Sure, but I’m also concerned with the fact that I do not really believe Republicans think clearly enough about what they really want in judges. Republicans have given us Earl Warren, Brennan, John Paul Stevens, Burger, who was kind of mediocre, Blackmun. Having a Republican president is not an answer in itself.”
So, just because some Republicans have squandered their picks in the past we are now obligated to let Hillary Freaking Clinton pick the next 3-4 Supreme Court justices, all of whom are GUARANTEED to be fire-breathing Marxists?
The utter absurdity of this logic defies imagination. Thankfully, it’s no longer coming from someone who calls himself a “Republican.”
