In an appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, Alabama Senator Jeff Sessions discussed Donald Trump’s proposal to temporarily ban immigration from volatile countries with a history of terrorism.
In the interview, CNN’s Chief Political Correspondent Dana Bash asked Trump about the proposal, to which Sessions responded, “He simply said … that we should slow down. Let’s have a pause and begin to analyze where the threats are coming from.”
Where are those countries? According to Sessions, they would include Egypt, Pakistan, Syria, Afghanistan, Iraq, and Yemen – all “Islamic countries.”
The Senator did clarify that exceptions would exist for diplomats and business people, but would certainly pause “the normal flow here until we get a good database that this administration has refused to give us, and protect the American people.”
Continuing with a concept that seems to be lost on Republican sellouts like Lindsey Graham and Paul Ryan, Sessions insisted, “That’s not unreasonable. You don’t have the Constitutional right to come to America. We respect your religion in this country. We will defend your right to free exercise of religion. But a person with an ideology that goes beyond normal religion — that believes you can kill gays, and kills people who change their view about the religion they have — that is a dangerous thing, and we do not have to admit people like that.”
The host brought up the fact that the Orlando and San Bernardino terrorists were all American citizens and asked how such a policy would help in these cases.
“Well, their parents came here with an ideology, and it seemed to have an impact,” Sessions responded. “For example, in Orlando, the parent was close to the Taliban, a radical element that we’re fighting right now in Afghanistan.”
Regardless of the third world hellhole our elites seem to be insistent on turning this country into, Sessions continued to insist that the U.S. is under no Constitutional obligation to admit anyone who poses a threat to American citizens.
