Former classmates of Orlando nightclub shooter Omar Mateen said he once threatened to kill everyone at his elementary school.

Mateen reportedly told fellow students at Florida’s Mariposa Elementary he would bring a gun to school and go on a shooting spree, according to 5th grade classmate Leslie Hall, TMZ reported.

Mateen’s threat to shoot everyone at his school was not taken lightly, Hall told TMZ. He was suspended for two weeks after children alerted a teacher. Though she did not remember anything that brought on that threat at the time, Hall recalled that Mateen’s constant bullying of her and other students led to her mother meeting with school officials.

Hall and other classmates said Mateen’s behavior issues continued into middle school where he reportedly threw chairs and spat at teachers, TMZ reported.

As previously reported by BPR, other classmates recalled Mateen’s wild claims about Osama bin Laden and that he celebrated the bombings on 9/11.

TMZ reportedly reached out to school district officials at Mariposa Elementary but they did not want to comment.
