Like millions of others, a high school senior in Texas jumped to Twitter to celebrate her graduation but instead of getting congratulations she ended up finding a whole lot of trouble. Why? Because along with her happy tweet she decided to laugh at Americans for paying for her education even though she is an illegal immigrant.

Eighteen-year-old Mayte Lara, from Crockett High School in Austin, Texas, went to Twitter to celebrate her graduation touting her high grade point average and even her “nice legs.” But where she raised the most ire was for laughing at U.S. taxpayers saying that she got all this education for free, “Valedictorian, 4.5GPA, full tuition paid for at UT, 13 cords and medals, nice legs, oh and I’m undocumented.”

Lara also needled Americans by noting that she would soon be getting a 100 percent free college education at the University of Texas, too.

Well, it wasn’t long before her Tweets began attracting a lot of angry people who got their education both legally and by paying for it.

The angry replies to her taunting tweet grew at such a furious pace, at one point the bragging girl tweeted, “I want all this attention from strangers to stop already.”

But the angry replies kept coming. Eventually Lara deleted her Twitter and Facebook accounts to escape the ire of those upset that she is stealing from every American citizen.

Sadly, as the Daily Mail reports, this young woman who has fully admitted to breaking American laws will still get her free college education from the University of Texas.

A spokesman for the university told the paper: “In accordance with state law, Texas universities–including the University of Texas schools–have for decades granted two-semester tuition waivers to valedictorians of Texas public high schools, without regard to their residency status.”

“State law also does not distinguish between documented and undocumented graduates of Texas high schools in admissions and financial aid decisions. University policies reflect that law.”

The Mail also has one last point to make about this whole situation that should really grate on the nerves of every real American.

Ironically the school Mayte Lara goes to is named after Davy Crockett, who lost his life fighting at The Alamo against the Mexican Army, which was trying to prevent Texas breaking away and eventually joining the U.S.

If that doesn’t say it all.
