RNC Chairman To Trump: ‘Give us all a break’

Republican National Committee chairman Reince Priebus dismissed Donald Trump’s complaints about the GOP’s nomination process.

It’s a disgrace for the party,” Trump said in an interview with The Hill Tuesday. “And Reince Priebus should be ashamed of himself. He should be ashamed of himself because he knows what’s going on.”

The GOP presidential candidate continued:

It should go to a vote in Colorado like other places. The best way to do it would be just a vote, should be a vote of the people. That’s the way it should be done. The delegate situation is a very unjust way of doing things.

Unlike a traditional primary or caucus like most other states, Colorado picks its delegates through a series of conventions, which Texas Sen. Ted Cruz won handily last weekend.

“Each state and territory submitted a plan on how to allocate and select their delegates last year. Those plans were made available to every campaign. Understanding the delegate selection and allocation is a basic part of the campaign,” RNC communications director Sean Spicer told The Hill in a statement.

Asked whether or not he would call for Priebus’ resignation, Trump replied, “I haven’t given that any thought.”

Priebus himself responded on Twitter to Trump’s comments:

This is the second comment in as many days from Priebus on this matter, tweeting Monday:

Despite the loss in Colorado, Trump is leading mightily in his home state. Several recent polls show him leading Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich with 50 percent or more.
