Apparently, Cruz really gets under Mika’s skin.
MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski began Tuesday’s show by eviscerating Sen. Ted Cruz just hours before the Wisconsin primary. But her complaint was for neither his record in the Senate nor the policies he endorses…
… her complaint had to do with his speech patterns and funny hats.
Before she laid into the Texas Republican, she played a clip of him explaining why politicians shouldn’t wear funny hats — or any type of headgear for that matter.
The headgear in question was a cheesehead hat that his daughter attempted to place on his head.
“Ted Cruz and his delivery,” she said. “I’m sorry, I can’t stand it,” and compared it to “fingernails on a chalkboard.”
Her rant went on for the better part of two minutes.
But Brzezinski couldn’t let it go. An hour later, she brought up the cheesehead hat incident again, and MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell said she understood Cruz’s refusal to pose in the silly hat.
“You had to have covered Michael Dukakis to understand headgear,” she said.
She was referring to the 1988 photograph of then presidential candidate Dukakis posing in an Abrams M1A1 battle tank, which was described as “the photo-op that tanked.” He looked ridiculous in his headgear — a helmet.
After they re-played the clip of Cruz refusing to wear the hat, Mitchell noted that the person who tried to place it on his head “wasn’t just some child who happened to be there. It was his daughter.”
“Who doesn’t put a cheesehead hat on for their daughter?” Brzezinski whined.
“Oh my god, he would lose the primary if he put that on,” panel regular Mark Halperin replied. “It was the best judgement Ted Cruz has shown to date.”
