At a time when emotions are at a fever pitch over favorite presidential contenders, it’s nice to see a candidate break the tension — and in a very sweet way.
Sen. Ted Cruz helped a Wisconsin teen with one of the most butterfly-in-the-stomach inducing tasks imaginable: Asking a girl out on a date — in this case, to the prom.
Esquire writer-at-large Luke O’Neil was given a video of the moment and posted it to Twitter.

“Sarah Beaver, would you cruise to prom with Alec Penn?” the Texas Republican read off the paper handed to him by the love-struck teen.
Even non-Cruz fans enjoyed the clip.
