Many political reporters and journalists are calling out President Obama for his pretentious lecturing on how to do their jobs.
The President rebuked members of the media in a speech on Monday accusing them of superficial reporting and not holding politicians accountable for promises they can’t keep.
Journalists and commentators struck back at the president by pointing out the hypocrisy of his calling them to a higher standard.
“There’s a man lecturing the media on how to do their business,” Joe Scarborough, host of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” said on Tuesday. “The man who has not sat down for an extended interview with the Washington Post in seven and a half years, and yet gladly submits himself to being interviewed by YouTube stars who sit in bathtubs with milk and Fruitloops.”
Others in the media denounced the president’s double standard in posts on Twitter. From The Washington Examiner’s T. Becket Adams:

CBS White House correspondent Mark Knoller:
“You are supposed to push those in power for more evidence and more access,” says Pres Obama, even though his WH doesn’t always provide it.

Huffington Post’s Sam Stein weighed in as well:
After this barnburner from Obama on the responsibilities of robust press coverage, i’m eager to see the spike in On Record WH briefings

While the Washington Post’s Callum Borchers said Obama is complicit in the media problem.
