Who would have guessed that Rosie O’Donnell‘s bombastic behavior runs in the family.
The entertainer’s brother Daniel O’Donnell, an openly gay New York assemblyman, speaking from the assembly floor on Tuesday in opposition to a bill that would legalize mixed martial arts in New York, compared the “alleged sport” to gay porn without a climax, TMZ reported.
“Two nearly-naked hot men rolling around on top of one another, trying to dominate each other,” O’Donnell said. “And just in case you don’t know, that’s gay porn with a different ending.”
Are we to assume that the Democratic lawmaker is speaking from experience?
O’Donnell said his younger and more famous sister supported the legislation, according to TMZ, before adding that he was not necessarily comfortable with the “aggression and violence” associated with MMA.
He also said he was going home “to take a long shower” after discussing the issue.
O’Donnell’s remarks prompted another gay assemblyman to chime in with a joke of his own.
“If I wanted to see half-naked men fighting in a cage over a belt and purse, I’d go to Fire Island,” said Assemblyman Matthew Titone, who supports the bill.
Fire Island, which runs parallel to the south shore of Long Island, is a popular destination for the gay community.
