The White House lied about being briefed on Clinton’s email scandal.
Attorney General Loretta Lynch testified Wednesday that neither she nor anyone else in the Department of Justice has briefed the White House on any ongoing investigation — including that of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server.
“I can assure you that neither I nor anyone from the department has briefed Mr. Earnest or anyone at the White House about this matter or any other matters,” Lynch said at a Senate Judiciary Committee.
This runs counter to White House press secretary Josh Earnest’s earlier claim that the Justice Department advised the White House that Clinton isn’t the target of a criminal investigation.
“Some (DOJ) officials have said that (Clinton) is not a target of the investigation,” Earnest said at a January 29 briefing.
Fox News chief intelligence correspondent Catherine Herridge told Fox News anchor Bret Baier that Earnest had to “walk back those comments that at the time appeared very helpful to the Clinton campaign.”
“I wouldn’t have any reason to disagree with her, or to think she’s not correct,” Earnest said Wednesday.
Lynch also testified that she would give “considerable weight to the FBI agents and their investigative findings” on whether to bring criminal charges.
