Hillary Clinton surrogate Rep. Joaquin Castro was immediately called out for claiming Sunday that the Justice Department had cleared the former secretary of state of any wrongdoing associated with her private email server.
“It’s been settled by the Congress,” the Texas Democrat said on CNN’s “State of the Union” roundtable. “The Congress has looked into it. The Justice Department has looked into it, and they’ve cleared her.”
Host Dana Bash corrected him.
“The Department of Justice is looking into it,” she said and laughed.
“She’s been cleared?” conservative talk radio host Hugh Hewitt put in. “I missed that headline.”
