Comedian Chris Rock, hosting the 88th Academy Awards ceremony, continued taking pot shots at whites with the presentation of several video clips, both with the message that it’s nearly impossible to make it in motion pictures unless you’re white.
“If you’re a black actor just getting the opportunity to be in a movie can be a struggle,” Rock said, introducing a clip starring Tracy Morgan and Whoopi Goldberg. “Let’s take a look.”
The montage then ran through a series of scenes from Oscar-nominated films meant to imply that blacks find it impossible to get recognition while depicting whites as moronic, talentless or heartless.
In the first scene from Jennifer Lawrence’s “Joy,” the actress depicting the Lawrence role gives a deer-in-the-headlights stare while janitor Goldberg steals the show.
“Maybe one day they’ll make a movie about a skinny white girl who invents a mop,” she said. “Of course a black girl would have to invent a cure to cancer before they even give her a TV movie.”
In another scene, this time from “The Martian,” NASA executives Jeff Daniels and Kristen Wiig debate whether they should be “spending 2,500 white dollars to save one black astronaut [Chris Rock].”

Then, just to make sure everyone got the picture, actress Angela Bassett presented segment titled “Black History Month Minute: Oscars Edition.”
“You can call him actor, producer, comedian, musician,” she said. “But we simply call him — Jack Black.”
But what was perhaps the evening’s most revealing moment, the crowd cringed when the academy’s first minority outreach director was named and brought onstage: conservative black actress Stacey Dash.
I guess being black doesn’t count if you’re a conservative.
