No matter what your opinion of Bill Clinton, you have to give him props for one thing: sometimes he’s brutally honest, much to the dismay of his wife.
Monday night the former president made a remark that he probably immediately wished he could take back.
Los Angeles Times DC Bureau reporter Mike Memoli tweeted:

This was also confirmed by CNN senior reporter Dylan Byers.

Oops! Although what Bubba probably meant by the statement was that he would be freer to laud his wife’s attributes had they not been married, it didn’t really come out that way — especially given his reputation for having a roving eye.
And the remark was custom-tailored for snarky commentary.
