The FBI is ready to recommend that the Department of Justice indict former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton for her mishandling of classified material through her private server, former U.S. House Majority Leader Tom DeLay said.
And if the DOJ doesn’t act, the agency’s investigators plan to go public with their findings, the Texas Republican told Newsmax TV’s Steve Malzberg Monday.
“I have friends that are in the FBI and they tell me they’re ready to indict,” DeLay said on “The Steve Malzberg Show.”
“They’re ready to recommend an indictment and they also say that if the attorney general does not indict, they’re going public.”
Last week, intelligence Inspector General Charles McCullough sent a letter to Capitol Hill indicating that some of the emails that were sent and received through Clinton’s private, non-secure server were more sensitive than even top secret.
“One way or another, either she’s going to be indicted and that process begins, or we try her in the public eye with her campaign,” DeLay said. “One way or another she’s going to have to face these charges.”
